*This was a really interesting and entertaining debut novel. Jolene isn’t in love with her job, and she writes out her annoyances in emails that are in white so no one can see them. Once she gets caught, she has to go to sensitivity training with the new HR guy, Cliff, who she finds surprisingly very kind and considerate toward her. After an IT glitch, she soon has access to all the company’s emails, and she can see what is going on with everyone in the company, which gives her an interesting advantage. Should she use this to her benefit or inform the company that this has happened? As Jolene mulls over this, she slowly builds a relationship with Cliff and others. I appreciated the mental health representation and the slow build-up of the romance. Jolene has had a complicated life, and it was easy to sympathize with her without agreeing with all her decisions. Overall, an interesting book with some serious topics covered. I also loved that the book is set in Canada and in my hometown, which is very rarely a setting for a book!
