Review of The Heir Apparent

I was curious about this book since I was seeing it everywhere, so I decided to give it a try. This is the story of Lexi, who is a princess in the British royal family and her sudden thrust into being able to become the monarch. Lexi was totally unprepared as her brother was supposed to be the heir upon her father’s passing. Unfortunately, both men died at the same time. Lexi is ambivalent about taking the throne, as she was estranged from her family and wanted nothing to do with royalty. She has a year to decide what to do, and we follow her on this journey. Her heart is back in Tasmania where she had been living and training as a doctor, and also her undecided relationship with Jack. The book mixes facts and rumours about the current British royal family with fiction, and I thought this made the book more engaging rather than the story being straight fiction. Overall, an interesting and entertaining book!
