Review of This Kind of Forever

This is the second book in a series, but can be read as a standalone. Hallie is returning to her small hometown with no job prospects and nowhere permanent to live. She reconnects with her best friend from high school and also with her friend’s twin brother who is also the guy she had a massive crush on. Gabe is now a single father and works as a firefighter. He is thrilled when Hallie returns and is determined to finally convince her they belong together after she ran from him ten years ago when he broached the subject. Both characters were interesting, and you definitely root for them. Gabe is a great book boyfriend, and his extended family is warm and inviting, and his young daughter is very charming. The writing is well-paced and engaging. It was interesting to see Hallie and Gabe’s relationship evolve as they moved forward with their lives. This was definitely a charming romance story that is perfect for summertime reading.
